Quick question as to views on the Quaife ATB LSDs in a RWD car, I believe the autoest guys don't like them. If that's right, what's the problem with them?

Not heard of any reason or anybody trying one but that is not to say I am correct.

However looking on the quaiffe site and quoting
This diff appears to only be for a 7inch sierra axle which is not nornmally used - most use the escort english axle which I would say is smaller
also the description of the diff working

I]never locks harshly with a set pre-load of wheel slip across the driven axle, like a conventional LSD. Rather, the Ford Sierra 7" Quaife ATB Helical LSD differential automatically biases the torque away from the spinning wheel across the axle, to a constantly varying degree, and never locks.[/I]

I would say the 'hash' locking is what is required - as in 'hash' meaning 'instant' - slippage is not what is required - locking is required

Roger Gordon has one (well a torsen type) in his MX-5 and after seeing it in action on tarmac and on the loose I have to say I was very impressed...
