TDC Dave Griffin Memorial Multi-Venue Autotest Final Instructions

Many thanks for your entry to TDC’s Dave Griffin Memorial Multi-Venue Autotest, kindly supported by Bill Griffin Motors. www.billgriffinmotors.ie

Please arrive as early as possible for sign-on. Your compliance would be greatly appreciated. No sign-on after drivers briefing at 0915. Sign-on opens at 0800 and is located this year in suite 1, above the Pit Garages. Enter Mondello Park through Gate 4.

The format for the event is as follows:
* 5 Tests completed 4 times.
* 1 Minute interval starts.
* Please go straight to your relevant starting test after drivers briefing.
* Countdown Start. Marshals will count you down to start.
* NO querying marshals for penalties, there is too much going on for them, and they don’t have the time to sort. Please fill out query forms back at HQ. Similarly, the results team will get to queries in time. All queries will be posted with answers.
* Please queue in running order to start with. Once underway, it’s up to you to keep moving. Please keep a move on during the day. If you are slow you will hold everyone up at the end of day waiting for results.
* DOUBLE DRIVERS. There will be 2 queues for each test. Single and double drivers. Double drivers are to go at every 3rd car from the Single queue. This is done until there are no cars in the singles queue, then double drivers may go as normal. Marshals will be informed of this. Please self-police. Double drivers will display an orange sticker on front and rear windscreens.
* No dodging or driving around chicanes. Penalty will be a disqualification.
* No taking short cuts across the grass. Penalty will be a Fail.
* There will be pylons “guarding” chicanes and other areas, so if these are knocked, will incur a 5 second penalty.
* Keep OFF the grass, 5 second penalty for each occurrence. Pylons have been placed to prevent this, 3 or 4 in some places, so knocking them all could result in a 15 or 20sec penalty. If you do end up on the grass and you decide to keep the boot in, you’ll be awarded a ‘FAIL’, this decision is at the marshal’s discretion, you’ve been warned.
* Chicanes are all 1st gear manoeuvres.
* All moveable objects are penalties, 5 seconds.
* All Finish Lines are stop astride. Front 2 wheels Stop and then pull up to marshal.
* The non-competitive sections are to be driven at low speed, absolutely no messing.
* Please put your car numbers on both sides to facilitate marshals.
* For beginners, please ensure that you are familiar with your test before you start. Arrows have been put in place, but remember to circle a pylon and not drive past it, if this is the case.
* Seat belts to be worn at all times, marshals will be checking. Failure to do so will incur a Fail penalty for that test. Also, please keep your windows rolled up.
* Obey any instructions or flags given by the marshals, they are there for your safety.
* Test 1, 4 and 5 can walked/driven slowly up until drivers briefing. Any competitors found driving at competition speeds will be disqualified. Test 2 and 3 cannot be walked. The earlier you arrive, the more time you’ll have to do this.
* Parking will be in the paddock beside the control tower. Marshals will help with parking.
* Please hand in your completed time-cards as you pass Suite 1. You do not need to return from the tests to do this, but please hand in your completed time cards as soon as you possibly can. Results for this event can be delayed if competitors fail to do this. Marshals may ask you for completed timecards.
* The canteen in Mondello will be open. There will be a 45/60 min lunch halt at 1230. This is mainly for the marshals to get a break and to get out of the cold and/or rain.

Question

Hi All,

Quote:
Test 1, 4 and 5 can walked/driven slowly up until drivers briefing. Any competitors found driving at competition speeds will be disqualified. Test 2 and 3 cannot be walked

Does this mean we can a) only drive Tests 2 & 3 or b) cannot view the test at all before hand ?

Thank you,

/Brian

hi Brian,

no walking or driving these tests - they are too long, and quite simple so its too much of a time/logistical issue. so drive it as you see it on your first lap!

Brian,

You are allowed to drive/walk through tests 1,4 and 5 at a non competitive pace (no handbrake turns etc). Test's 2 and 3 may not be driven or walked before hand as they are too long. These will be blocked before hand to facilitate. Everyone will be in the same boat starting. Make sure you are very familiar with the diagram for test's 2 and 3 as they are long.

Hope this helps
